Golden Sun

The day are shorter now. And the nights, colder.
As the last days of the year flashes before my eyes, I can't help but reminisce the memories of 2007. In a few days we are going to say hello to the new year, so it's time to reflect on the things that made the year worth remembering.

At the top of the list is definitely my move to Dubai. It was a big decision on my part (though not a very hard one), and it all started in one simple phone call. Many thanks to the people who let it happen, I am looking forward to more happy years with you all.

I love it here and I never really had any regrets that I stayed back home when I should have been here years earlier. I've always believed that the time will come when my dreams will come calling. The years that I stayed and toiled in the Philippines only prepared me for that day, making it all the more easy for me to make the decision to move. Not surprisingly, it took me no time to adjust to the lifestyle here in the desert. It (almost) felt like home.

2007 also saw our family grieve the loss of my Lolo Ramon to old age. Part of me had kept wondering why we all have to grow up and witness the ruin of our childhood legends with the fading of our innocence. I was not able to come home during the funeral but I only had one request to whoever is doing his eulogy - please tell one of his tales so that people may never forget. The story and it's teller.

The days are shorter now, and the nights longer. But this does not mean that they are not happier and more meaningful. The flower that grows in the desert, blooms brightest.
