The Ring is Mine, Anakin!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... was enough to give me goosebumps as I watched the last piece of the puzzle that was Star Wars. Episode III marked the end of a long wait and I feel nostalgic just remembering the characters and the events that came after (I got my hands on episodes 4 to 6 recently and it's fun having to watch them all over again).

I am a Star Wars baby. The Return of the Jedi was the first sci-fi movie that I watched (it was still in Betamax format). Even back then, the lightsaber duels and the space dogfights were enough to fascinate and pique the curious mind. The trilogy saw me live through my early high school days. I would spend weekends watching them at length and I later knew every detail of the Star Wars universe to a science.

However, when the "saga was complete", I was able to sum it up with these words - "Mas maganda yung luma". Not only are the characters from the later episodes more endearing. Han Solo "wooing" Leia is totally funny; I still can't get over Ewan McGregor's character in Moulin Rogue and I can imagine him singing "come what may" in Jedi robes. Of course there is the hated Jar Jar Binks while the weathered Bobba Fett costume in the later episodes totally kicks ass.

Then there was the lightsaber duel on the planet Mustafar. I can almost see Frodo and Sam running through the ledge with the fate of Middle Earth on the balance. Parang gusto ko na sumigaw sa loob ng sinehan - THE RING IS MINE, ANAKIN!

I reviewed my past entries and noticed to my dismay that due to my lack of dedication to proofread my works, there were typo and grammatical errors on some entries. For that I stand corrected.
