Say Cheese

I finally found a picture that I feel like posting. I never really liked posing for cameras for various reasons. My eyes, I found out, are pretty sensitive to camera flash so my photos would end up with me squinting to the camera. Not a sight I would want saving, uh-uhm. Then there's the 'smiling' part. I've always preferred candid photos rather than 'choreographed' ones. Personally, I would rather be photographed when I am not looking/expecting it. It saves my cheeks from shaking while holding that I-show-my-pearly-whites, choreographed smile for the camera. As a photographer (hobbyist), I've always wanted to capture my live subjects in their rawest, most honest moment which is no walk in the park. One reason why in the past I leaned towards taking pictures of inanimate objects rather than live subjects. Taking pictures of objects are a way easier than doing portraits or documentary photos. With live subjects, you never can tell the perfect moment to capture until you already have it saved in your camera. Still, memories of my press conference days made me experiment on taking photos of people, in black in white as I've always preferred my portraits to be.

So I post my own as a teaser, as I plan to post a collection of monochromatic portraits soon.

In the past people have always believed that a camera can capture one's soul. I agree. But they forgot the heart.
